Great first week, everyone! We're getting Synergy up and running, so hopefully things will be in place this week and you'll be able to see progress and assignments.
Vocabulary also begins this week. Students will receive a list on Monday as well as an exercise to perform, but they are responsible taking time at home to learn and study the words. There is a link to join my Quizlet class: https://quizlet.com/join/KgdAdu4GH Monday: Receive three-pronged folder; review 4 types of sentences; "Pre" vocabulary handed out - crossword due 8/16 Tuesday: Figurative language review; 4 types of sentences; review vocabulary Wednesday: Figurative Language review; 4 types of sentences; Two-word poem draft returned - final due 8/17 Thursday: Vocabulary HW due; Six Traits of Writing exercises Friday: Vocabulary quiz; Six Traits of Writing exercises A word on "final" writing: every year, students compile selected final writing assignments into an end-of-year book. Therefore, it is required that each final be completed on 8 1/2" x 11" computer paper, whether it's typed or hand-written. I will supply computer paper to those students who do not have it. All finals must have 1" margins in order for their work to be properly bound. There are examples in my room if you need further clarification. |
