The Giver was made into a movie in 2014. I urge you to NOT look at any of the trailers or information about the book. The book is a journey of exploration, and I want you to make those realizations organically. If you choose to watch the movie after you read the book, that's fine. But don't spoil it for yourself.

In your online journal, write a one-paragraph response to the following: What do the words community, family, and memory mean to you? You can give the literal definition for each one, but also consider what those words mean to YOU. Is there one that is more important than the other? (Hint: consider that when organizing your paragraph. Write about the most important word LAST)
